Not many people are aware that Southern Nevada was little more than a dusty whistle stop in 1905.
However, a land auction on May 15 of that year formally established the modern Las Vegas Valley and paved the way for the incredible growth that has continued since.
Attend the fifth annual Henderson Speaks event to hear Dr. Eugene Moehring’s perspective on 100 years of phenomenal growth and change.
Celebrated author and UNLV professor Moehring will present an in-depth history of Southern Nevada suitable for a wide range of interests, including history fans, teachers, students, and area newcomers. Moehring’s lecture will be capped by a question and answer period, where the audience is encouraged to inquire about stories regarding Southern Nevada’s colorful past.
This event is free and open to the public. Voluntary donations will be accepted to help with the Henderson Historical Society’s future programming.
