The event is a fundraiser for two nonprofit organizations which provide unduplicated services in Nevada — Cure 4 The Kids Foundation and the Nevada Chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation.
Last year’s event attracted 136 golfers and raised $70,000 for the two 501(c)(3) organizations.
Golf 4 The Kids is played on the private, Arnold Palmer-designed mountain course at Red Rock Country Club and will be limited to 144 golfers. The mountain course offers a balance of challenging conditions and awe-inspiring beauty. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. To register, call Dawn Marie Pavuk at 702-732-0952 or email her at dmpavuk@cure4thekids.org. Additional information can be found at golf4thekids.org.
Golf 4 The Kids and its organizers are grateful to acknowledge returning Gold Sponsor CSL Behring and Bronze Sponsor Novo Nordisk.
A number of additional sponsorships are available as well as foursomes and single entry tickets. Players are also eligible to enter a number of fun events including Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin and a Putting contest. After the tournament, golfers will enjoy a provided lunch, raffle, and a silent auction. Best of all, all donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
Cure 4 The Kids Foundation provides diverse medical services through its two main clinics —The Children’s Specialty Center of Nevada and the Hemophilia Treatment Center of Nevada. The Children’s Specialty Center provides treatment to those affected by cancer, rare and ultra-rare diseases, genetic and rheumatologic conditions. In addition, the clinic provides sub-specialty care including the Pediatric Palliative Outpatient Clinic and the Long-Term Follow-Up Clinic for childhood cancer survivors. The Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) of Nevada is the only federally recognized HTC in the state and provides diagnosis and treatment for inherited bleeding disorders such as hemophilia and von Willebrand Disease through its clinics in Las Vegas and Reno. HTC medical staff also conduct on-site comprehensive clinics in Nevada’s rural communities of Ely, Elko, Winnemucca and the Owyhee Indian Reservation. Funds raised through Golf 4 The Kids will allow for treatment of those without medical insurance and those unable to pay for treatment. It is the mission of Cure 4 The Kids Foundation that no patient in need of medical treatment ever is turned away.
The Nevada Chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation is the state’s premier advocate for those affected by inherited bleeding disorders, including hemophilia and von Willebrand Disease. Every year, the chapter sends a number of children with inherited bleeding disorders, along with a sibling, to a special, medically supervised summer camp for free. Funds raised through Golf 4 The Kids will allow the chapter to keep the week-long camp a no-cost activity for families. Additionally, the Nevada Chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation works with state legislators to keep them up to date on the unique needs of those affected by this disease. The chapter also provides a number of support groups and educational seminars around the state to help keep clients up to date on new research and treatment options.
